This is when I feel a bit like Joni Mitchell. She calls her greatest hits record "hits and misses". Well these two songs probably would have been internet hits if there had been such a thing or maybe more if I had lived in a place like Sweden at that time where public radio mixes in songs from artists like me and Britney Spears. And for "some reason" it works quite well and seems quite normal.(that's a subtle hint..nudge nudge wink wink say no more!)
Mezzaluna is from an album called Cathode Ray that sold about 3 copies.(and I think my mother bought those). Yet live in Vancouver it was a big fav. Maybe I just wasn't aggressive enough with the "selling the record" part?
It was also that soon after I met this band(or I put it together)who were really into old school soul and drum and bass. For me it was a very logical progession but it made the album sound.. ah let me say.."out of context" so I recorded 4 songs from the album again. One of results was Tempe. So here you have Cathode Ray "singer songwriter" style and Cathode Ray via jungle brothers!
